EA reveals new features for Madden 22 Face of the Franchise mode

EA has revealed some new features and improvements for Madden 22, the latest edition of the NFL game that has been a mainstay in the sports entertainment scene for decades.

Madden NFL 22, the latest installment of the long running football series, has been in development for some time, and it is finally here. While the game itself may not be the most in-depth, having players who are actually celebrities helps EA’s Madden NFL franchise do what it does best: make millions of people spend hundreds of dollars on its microtransactions. EA took it a step further this year, giving the game’s faces a total makeover.

EA is slowly spreading the news about Madden 22, and for fans of the popular Face of the Franchise game mode, big changes are on the way. It looks like the face of the Madden 22 franchise has undergone a major overhaul, including new features like a class progression system, an improved season engine, and more. Here’s a rundown of all the new stuff in the Madden 22 Face of the Franchise trailer.

Madden 22 Face of the Franchise trailer explained

Rather than go into detail, EA has released a trailer in which senior design director Ryan Santos gives a brief overview of what’s in store for us. In the trailer, Santos notes that this year’s version of Face of the Franchise: United We Rise will have many similarities to last year’s game, such as the study tour and conscription. But there will also be many totally new aspects added to the popular game mode. The trailer showed a list of new features, including several:

  • New project United we stand: The road to the design prologue
  • New grading system
  • New scenarios for multiple games and game objectives
  • New options for weekly updates
  • New pressure points in the game
  • New career hub
  • Report of the New Careers Podcast
  • Seasonal engine improvement

In Madden 22, you begin with a prologue called Road to the Draft, in which you begin as a college player and advance to the NFL. Just like in the Faces of the Franchise game from previous years, you’ll get the chance to practice with one of the teams before the NFL Draft, and your decisions (both on and off the field) will affect your place in the draft.

Class promotion system and special skills

Madden 22 The Face of the Franchise, however, is different: United We Rise will feature a brand new class progression system.

In the game’s customization center, you can give your player special abilities that suit your unique playing style, but you can also create your own archetypes based on existing players (like in MLB The Show).

The Magician (Patrick Mahomes), for example, is a quarterback archetype that allows you to scout defenders and make effective decisions in and out of the pocket. While Hawk is the archetypal defensive midfielder, allowing him to excel in the middle of the field to maintain control of the game.

Another major change to this year’s Face of the Franchise mode is the ability to play both offensive and defensive positions. In addition to the three main positions of offense (quarterback, running back, wide receiver), you also have the option to play as an NFL halfback.

Archetypes of the Madden 22 franchise face

The official face of the Madden 22 franchise: The United We Rise trailer featured the following archetypes for each position:

  • General (QB)
  • The Wizard (CB).
  • Speed of light (QB)
  • Shadow (RB)
  • Juggernaut (RB)
  • Dual Agent (RB)
  • Moonstruck (WR)
  • Scouts (WR)
  • Lucky 7’s (WR)
  • Hawk (LB)
  • Intruder (LB)

Note that this is not a complete list of Madden 22 archetypes. We only know what was shown in the trailer.

You can also merge your avatar with The Yard to complete both game modes, giving you more opportunities to level up.
