This week, AMD released Radeon Software Adrenalin 21.6.1, the latest version of its software suite. This week’s Radeon Software Adrenalin release includes performance improvements on AMD Radeon™ products, as well as support for new features in the latest Radeon hardware.
AMD has released its Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 21.6.1 driver, which contains a new version of the Radeon Settings software. Among other things, the new version introduces new anti-aliasing options. AMD is the first to acquire a license from Silicon Motion for its SM2256-based Hynix H9T8GFR8C-BC micro-SSD to be called Hynix H9F1-BC, which can be used in the SM2263-powered AMD Radeon R9 M295X.
I know that I don’t always have time to play some of the latest games, I could always turn on the game and run it at a lower resolution if I wanted to. However, it’s even easier to see the difference from a lower resolution.

AMD has released the Radeon Adrenalin 21.6.1 software. The latest driver version offers support for the Radeon RX 6800M laptop graphics card and the new Dungeons & Dragons game from Tuque Games : Dark Alliance, as well as support for Super Resolution FidelityFX (FSR) in some games. According to leaked information, the first games with FSR support at launch will be 22 Racing Series, Anno 1800, Evil Genius 2, Godfall, Kingshunt and Terminator: Resistance and the Riftbreaker.
Problems solved
- Radeon FreeSync can sometimes get stuck on the desktop after switching tasks between the expanded screen and the main screen when closing a game, leading to poor performance or stuttering.
- Anno 1800 may crash under DirectX 12.
- The AMD Cleanup utility can remove folders/registers associated with the chipset/RAID installer from the system.
- The performance of some Radeon graphics products in Destiny 2 may be weaker than expected compared to previous versions of Radeon software.
- After participating in the AMD User Experience Program, the AMD User Experience Program Service Master may experience higher than expected CPU utilization.
- Enabling ray tracing when running Ring of Elysium on DirectX 12 can cause the game to crash.
Known issues
- In Resident Evil Village, AMD Radeon VII graphics may intermittently crash in the application or TDRs may occur during the first mission of the game.
- When enhanced sync is enabled, a black screen may appear in some games and system configurations. Users experiencing issues when Advanced Sync is enabled should disable it as a temporary fix.
- Connecting two displays with a large difference in resolution/refresh rate may cause flickering in Radeon RX Vega series graphics products.
- An Oculus service error may occur on Radeon RX 5000 and 6000 series graphics products, preventing the Oculus Link installer from running.
- Radeon’s performance measurement and logging functions may periodically report extremely high and incorrect memory clock speeds.
- If Ryzen Master is not detected in the Adrenalin software after installation, you may need to reboot your system.
- If you see a blue or black screen on mobile systems, temporarily disable advanced authentication.
- A driver error may occur if two versions of the Radeon software (Windows Store and AMD Support versions) are installed in the system. As a temporary workaround, you can run a version of the Radeon software from the Windows Store.
- AMD is investigating an issue that may cause a slight drop in battery life in AMD Ryzen 5000 laptops.
- After upgrading to the latest version of the Radeon software, the screen may be blue or black. The remedy is to turn off core insulation.
- AMD is investigating a D3 error code that may appear on some motherboards after upgrading to the latest version of its Radeon software.
- Some AMD Athlon mobile systems may not perform as well as expected.
Known AMD Link Issues for Windows
- When streaming with HEVC on some configurations over an internet connection, intermittent gray screen corruption may occur. A workaround is to use the AVC encoding parameter.
