Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a new performance patch for the PlayStation 5 which will bring it up to 60 FPS. The game was released in 2017 and has been praised for its graphical fidelity, but some players have complained that it can be difficult to play at high frame rates.

Horizon Zero Dawn players with PlayStation 5 consoles have been asking why one of the PS4’s most popular games has yet to get a performance upgrade that enables the game to operate at 60 frames per second on Sony’s next-gen system for almost a year.
That time has finally come.
Horizon Zero Dawn has received an Enhanced Performance Patch from Guerrilla Games, allowing the game to operate at 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5. The original game only ran at 30 frames per second, but now players may travel across the Nora, Carja, and Banuk regions at a considerably faster speed.
According to Guerrilla, the Enhanced Performance Patch contains the following:
- When playing on a PS5 system in backwards compatibility mode, the framerate was increased to 60 frames per second.
- Streaming speed has been improved while using a PS5 console in backwards compatibility mode.
- When using a PS5 console in backwards compatibility mode, the Graphics Mode option has been removed from the Visual Settings. This is no longer necessary, since the upgrade now defaults to 60 frames per second in 4K.
Despite these nice improvements, PlayStation fans should still check out the PC version, which was launched on August 7, 2020, for the best experience. Higher resolutions (including ultrawide resolutions) are supported, as well as uncapped frame rates. Using a mouse to aim Aloy’s bow is also considerably more convenient.
