Danganronpa is a Japanese video game series created and developed by Spike Chunsoft. The series’ premise follows groups of high school students from Hope’s Peak Academy who are pushed into a killing game between one another. The series is developed with the “Trigger Happy Havoc” game being released on January 26, 2010, for PlayStation Portable, followed by a sequel “Super Danganronpa 2: Sayonara Zetsubō Gakuen” on July 26, 2011. The third title in the series was “Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony”, which was released on September 25, 2012, for PlayStation Vita.
A big part of the series’ appeal is the high school cast of characters, who are all extremely exaggerated stereotypes. The cast of all games is unique in that their designs are 3D, while the anime sticks to the 2D look.
The cast is currently composed of 72 students from Hope’s Peak Academy. This includes 66 from both “Super Danganronpa 2: Sayonara Zetsubō Gakuen” and “Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope’s Peak High School”, and 6 new ones. Each character has a video introduction with voiced lines in Japanese and English done by their voice actors/actresses in one video released on December 19, 2014. The characters are organized into sub-classes based on their titles.
A group of 16 students who were revealed to be the “Ultimate” class of Hope’s Peak Academy’s 78th Class. All of them are also split into two sub-groups, with each sub-group consisting of eight members. The first eight members are part of the cast, while the remaining eight are new characters.
